| It depends on the mobile carrier and the service plan that the user is subscribed to. Some mobile carriers offer an email address which can be used by standard internet protocal, but if you want to send a text message to an AT&T phone (with no email address), for example, you have to log on to AT&T's web site to send the message. | |

Go to http://www.mtnsms.com/
register and follow instructions. If the receiving party's cell phone accepts text messages ,
then u are ready to rock'n'roll. 
One more option is http://mobile.msn.com : if ur freinds use msn ask them to configure their cell phones by going to that site. Once they configure it you can log on to msn and page them.
