| Hi,
I want to buy a good shortwave radio that will allow me to recieve radio stations from all over the world, specifically the middle east including pak/india.
I have absolutely no idea what to look for in a shortwave radio, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. | |

| It's been a while, but...
It should have several bands of shortwave. I.E. AM, FM, and then at least 4 bands of shortwave alone. My radio had 6 bands of shortwave, so it's advertised as an "8 band" radio.
It should have a fine tuner.
It should have a GOOD antenna, preferably a directional one.
Bear in mind that those broadcasts on the other side of the world are REALLY hard to pick up, and happen at 2am local time. Don't get disappointed if you have a hard time finding a station or picking it up all the time, it's normal.
The international weather forcasts become your friend... solid banks of cloud cover are excellent for bouncing radio signals around the globe. | |
