| Hi, I'm a girl who know's just how to start a computer .. how to use a browser.. and few very simple things..
I want to learn lot of things about the computer (as creating a web page, making a network..etc).
I just don't know where to start.. Every time I try to learn something I discover that I need to know other basic things. Could someone tell me where can I find a simple tutorial.. (one that could be helpfull even to a man who doesn't knows what's a computer :-p)
Sorry to bother you with these things that are very simple for you all.. but I really need a little help to start...
Thank you.. and I'm waiting for your answers.

| Hi,
You can take some computer classes or there are lotta good books in the " for dummies " collection. This collection has all the small topics as well as big topics.

You mean "a girl"...
I just checked Editura Teora (www.teora.ro) on the Web; they publish a lot of computer books, and you can even buy online. A bit expensive for the average Romanian income, though...

| This is an excellent book for learning how computers work in a very easy to understand context with great illustrations. I have all these great certifications and have a Bachelors in Computer Engineering and I still learned a few things from this book. Awesome stuff. Every one of my friends that borrowed it tried to steal it for themselves.

If you want some information on networks, they also sell one one like this--

These are great intro books that talk about the whole picture from the bottom to the top. They don't delve into complex language but they do talk about everything in simple terms that bring everything into focus.
You won't get a certification out of this (not that much detail!) but you will get an excellent grasp of the components and how they interact.
Don't worry about bothering us either, this is what this site is for. Post what you want when you want!! Anyhow, most of us don't have much better things to do during off time anyhow (I admit it, I'm a geek)!!
Hope that helps!! | |

| hi deeanna,
just some more tips from an "IT-girl".
don't take this stuff too seriously - play around and try out everything!! the worst thing that could happen is that you have to reinstall again ... and again :-D
don't care about making mistakes - it's absolutely normal!!
ask whatever you want (yes there many geeks waiting for questions)
and don't apologize for beeing a woman!!!
Welcome! |
