Help!!!

Want to undrestand classless interdomain routing (CIDR)and variable-length subnet masks (VLSM). I'am takining the 70-221
Designing a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Network Infrastructure exam. And I'am kind of not understanding them. I've looked on the Internet for a expaintion but I'm not only understanding some of it. Can some one show me a link or send a message that will explain it in layman's terms to me.
