or

"Evolution of DOS"

or

While your at it...try "How Microsoft stole DOS"

You think they stole only DOS?

MS stole everything and it is their monopoly to steal things.

Please, no more "I hate Microsoft", "M$", or "Microsoft sucks" stuff. It is getting VERY old. I am not a cheerleader for Microsoft, but they are not doing any business practices that Ford, GM, Dell, IBM, AT&T, etc. to be as successful as they are today. Microsoft is a business first and formost and they have to survive. Darwin's theory of evolution "survival of the fittest" plain and simple. If you don't like it, just don't use it.

About M$.

Sorry Bobby , but I have to disagree. Our societies are (or should be) ruled by law. The right of pointing out abuses, illegal or unethical behaviors is fundamental in the democratic debate. Answering with a "survival of the fittest" is, to say it mildly, out of place.

They have conducted some questionable business practices, but overall I agree. Microsoft is very good at business and advertising, and that's arguably the reason for their success. I'm not a big fan of their product quality though.

The importance of DOS? It's what Microsoft was founded and based on for years! If you want, I have an old NEC word processor with DOS version 2 on it, and 16kb of ram.....whoohoo!

As for the bashing, well, they do deserve a lot of it. I don't have a problem with capitalism (matter of fact, now that I make better money in the IT world, I'm kind of getting used to it) BUT that doesn't make up for the fact that a Microsoft (or any company) can manipulate the market and just stick it to whomever they please (especially IT folks who support their products).

I'm all for keeping pace with the market and being better than your competition, but there are reasons anti-trust laws were enacted, and ever since so much deregulation in the late 80's, corporations have had free reign.

Sorry you don't like to hear about it, but the good comes with the bad most times, as it should.

Before you "RAG" on Microsoft, think about where you would be without them..

Interesting huh?

hi Guys,

I reckon that without MS there's be around 50% less IT jobs in the world as companies would be using more efficient systems.

I don't mind shovelling crap...
as long as the pay is good!

Superior marketing, product development based on consumer need (real or imagined), VERY competitive business practices. Did you hear consumers whining about not having the worlds leading products on their desktops because there was some other product was twice a good. NO. Microsoft is the best game in town all around. Netscape may have a better browser. So what. They don't have any OS to push it. Give credit. The lawsuit was just a bunch of corporate giants that couldn't keep up with technology or people's needs for it. Quit whining about capitalism. Survival of the fittest RULES. This is America. The Clinton/Reno era is OVER!!!

In the name of capitolism, are you allowed to steal others intellectual or non-intellectual property?

If every arguments go this way:

can I steal your car at gun point and say "I have the power to take it. If you can resist, take it back from me.it is the survival of the fittest" ?

Thanks
