| The exam code for Windows 2000 Professional is actually 70-210. And yes, passing any one of Microsoft certification exams will make you a MCP. You may register for the exam with either Prometric or VUE. As for the exam fee, I'm not sure how much is it in the US.
You may find out more information at Microsoft Training and Certification web site.

| You just missed the sale for the exams Before September 30, 2001 the exams cost only $75. Now they are back up to their original $100 per test. You can take the test at any VUE or Prometric testing center. Most CTEC's are affiliated with either/both testing service providers. | |

| This is in reply to what usnretired said.
I registered for an exam October 3rd for an exam next week. I was dispointed to see the discount was no longer offered.
But then I stumbled on an MS page that said the discount had been extended until Dec. 31 2001. Just use the promotional code W2KMCP instead of the old one (W2KSEW).
When I read usnretired's comment I tried to find the page again but came up with:
"The MCSE exam discount offer is no longer available.
Register now for a Windows 2000 exam."
at the same URL http://www.microsoft.com/trainingan...nnMenu=winoffer
I don't know the story behind this but I recommend giving the promotional code a try. It worked for me. I booked the exam for 71 Euros instead of 90+

| A+ and MCP are good quality entry level certs. Make sure you do not get caught up in the current belief held by some that certs=money. Experience+Premium Certs+Solid Work History=Healthy Bank!!! In other words, go for MCSE and get good work experience.
Just one man's opinion!!! | |

| no way i'm getting hung up about certs=money.
i'm 48,have 6 years computer/networking experience(not much).i was layed off due to an illness a year ago. i'm just "LOOKING" for work and working on "ANY" certs.this is just my latest career and am up against people like you that have far more credentials than i.
no my friend,$13 to $15hr looks better than $7 or $8hr.
know what i mean? | |

| Meant no ill will. Not trying to be an a**hole. I got burned one time and lost a job because of not getting a cert. That has been six years, like you. I never forgot that!!! Have been gaining certs since then. Also experience. Tough break about the layoff. Especially due to illness. Back to the original topic. 2k workstation should be attainable. Best of luck. Keep the faith. It will happen!!!! | |
