| I am Network + certified and have passed my college courses in A+, W2K Prof, W2K Server, just waiting to take the cert tests. My question is, what's the best way to start looking for a job in this field. I have never worked in this field before, therefore I have no practical experience. | |

| My suggestion is to make yourself up a very good resume stressing your talents, education, and certs. Then post it on the web. Go to headhunters.net, ecareers.com, or computerjobs.com, etc. Oh, and don't forget to include important IT sections on your resume to spice it up:
"Certifications", "Professional Development", "Platforms", and "Software"
For example, this is what mine looks like:
Professional development:
Currently training for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer on Windows 2000, and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
Platforms:
MS Windows 2000 Pro/Server, MS Windows NT Wkstn/Server 4.0, MS Windows 95/98/3.x, MS-DOS 3.x to 6.22, IBM PC-DOS, LINUX
Software:
MS Office Utilities including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Powerpoint, and MS Outlook, MS Internet Explorer 2.x-5.0, Netscape Communicator 3.x-4.5, MS Exchange Server 5.0-5.5, MS Internet Information Server 4.0, COREL 5.x-8.0, LOTUS Works, LOTUS 97, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe PageMaker, Timeslips, and Peachtree.
Employers like to see that you are still educating yourself and striving to better yourself. That shows "initiative".
