Author cant find a job

2000-09-08, 10:06 pm

I just spent a whole lot of money on an MCSE
course and now I cant find a simple entry level job. I don't expect the a 80000/yr job i just want a job to get the experience I need when I graduate with my degree. Talk about a catch 22. We should hold Microsoft accountable for this. Here I am in sunny CA the tech kingdom and cant find a job, i might just go back to the training school and demand my $4500 back.

They should offer job replacement or some type of internship you can do for some time till you get experience. Unfortunately people are getting weary of the Paper Mcse as they call it. Your best bet is to get a job doing some help desk. It's a hard climb but once you can get your foot in the door your set. People with just certs need at the very least 6months of experience. Or unless you have a good home lab setup and know what the hell your talking about maybe you can wow them in an interview.

Good luck on your job quest, also keep in mind getting the job takes a lot of work too. Most of the time people get refferred in so there isn't a lot of hassle but for those that don't have that luck need to put the work in to get the job. Like sending resume galore. Have you tried the Job boards? Like Monster.com or Dice.com?

1. Back off and chill. Getting a job even when one is fully qualified can be just as unnerving.
2. I do not know what kind of expectations you had or were fed to you but at this point it seems to me that you should focus on getting your foot in the door at an entry level position.
3. As discouraged as you might feel, you do not want a potential employer to sense that you are p*** off. They have their own problems too.
4. Good luck.

Hey Lostboy,
Get into career finders in your local newspaper. Try to break into the business as a technical support person or even an installer with compusa or another retail outlet. Get that first job on your resume first, make yourself visible.
