Depends on which direction you want to go. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" My advice:

1)Decide which area you want to go into.
2)Find a niche or speciality in that area.
3)Read as many books and magazines as you can while getting some hands-on experience if possible.
4)Choose the certification(s) that you best enhance your career choice.
5)Most importantly, aim high!

Here is the order that I am going:
A+
N+
MCSE NT and 2K
CNE
CCNA

I want to be a network guy so that's what I'm trying to stick to.

Another idea you might consider is try to knock out the 1-test certifications before getting the more in-depth certifications. For example, if you want to be in the network engineering field and want to show a broad background, you might go ahead and get A+, N+, MCP, CNA, CCNA before completing your MCSE, CNE, or CCNP. If nothing else you avoid committing to an MCSE, CNE, or CCNP path until you have a better idea of interests you most or what your job requires. Having 5 single test certifications might not show "expertise" to a potential employer, but it would show flexibility and an ability to learn almost any IT subject.

Of course if you want to work for a pure Microsoft IT shop, you could just go with the A+ and MCSE and forget the rest until later.
