MCSE Electives????
|
|
|
| Does anybody know which the most popular (sorry - EASIEST) electives are for the NT4 track?
Once I pass the cores I am looking for a quick fix before I go back to uni.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

| TCP/IP was the easiest for me. By the time you pass the core you should already have a good understanding of configuring it on NT.

| I took TCP/IP as well. I scored 900/1000, but I didn't find it to be the easiest test. BUT if you plan on other certs. later TCP/IP shows up on other Microsoft and various other vendors exams, so it's a good elective to begin your exposure to it. Preparing for the TCP/IP exam has prepared me for Network+, i-Net+, and Proxy 2.0 (my other elective). | |

Cheers gents, its looks like TCP\IP is going to be a cert for the future then.
|
| I found TCP/IP and IIS to be the easiest of the electives. Dont forget to hurry along if you want your MCSE before the end of the year. | |

Dont worry I am crashing it.
An exam a week ( except enterprise I think Ill study for two with that)
By the time I get back out of uni I will have to study it all again anyway!
2 down 4 to go!

| Enterprise was slightly tricky, but it was mainly NT Server all over again with some additional scenario questions about trust relationships and file permissions. | |

Yeah, Ive got New Rider books for Net Ess, Workstation and enterprise. I think that I will probably use the enterprise book to study for the Server exam.
Ive also seen a lot of similarity between the server exam and the WS one. Ive had a look at some questions and can do about 60% of them without even starting studying for it yet.

| I took Server, Enterprise, and Workstation all in a month due to the similarity. I did have to take Workstation twice, thankfully the only one I failed. I missed passing by a couple points because I had not studied enough on using Sysdiff and other installation utilities. I knew going into the exam that I wasn't prepared for this subject matter, and hoped I wouldn't get hit with a ton of stuff on it. But I did. Anyway, I studied the installation tools for the next week, took the test, and passed with a 900.
Basically, if you get solid understanding of Server, focus on those things that are different in Workstation, or issues that Server would run into in enterprise use, like the domain models, trusts, and permissions.

| Cheers M8, I think prob what I am going to concentrate on the most is connecting to netware, that seems to be the in thing for the server exam!
