| Seems many employers(in my area)are looking for a good foundation of not only NT but also Unix.
Anyone have any recommended links for quality free material on Unix?

| Try these links: http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/unixhe...xhelp/TOP_.html
http://wks.uts.ohio-state.edu/unix_course/unix.html
These are basic tutorials that will get you started. If you want more do a search on www.google.com (The BEST search engine around) and type in "UNIX tutorials".
You are right about UNIX. Believe it or not, UNIX is a very valuable networking asset to a corporation. Many companies will hire a person who is strong with UNIX (and shell scripting and Perl) and train them with NT and/or Novell. UNIX skills are in high demand, but seemed to be overshadowed by Microsoft, Novell, and Cisco. Besides vendor-based certifications (Sun, HP, and IBM) there is no real major UNIX certification. A university in my area offers a Certified UNIX Administrator (CUA) certification, but that's all that I have seen. Here is the link: http://www.kennesaw.edu/coned/unix/
Good luck:-) |
