I hear that Comptia has two new certifications on the horizon...Server+ and Linux+. Where will it stop?

The competition is tough. If thery don't start Linux certification, some other organization will.

There are already a few Linux certification, but none of those organizations are as well-known as CompTIA.

There is still a great number of potential new certification out there.

For one, I have not seen Apache server certification yet. Apache is the number one web server on the net 70% of all web servers are Apache, and there are no Certified Apache Administrator or Apache engineer yet?

I have not seen a Certified PERL programer yet. PERL is probably still the most popular CGI scripting language, far exceeding ASP in number of sites that using it.

Then there is a potential for MySQL and mSQL sertifications.

All of the above are free open source software. That's what makes it so popular.

I am sure someone will come up with these new certifications soon.

I predict an avalanche of new certification in the next 1-3 years.

I look forward to the additional certs that CompTIA is offering. The organization is well-known, so those of us who are certified benefit by carrying their certs.

I hope that the number of CompTIA certs will continue to grow as long as they are valued in the industry, particularly since CompTIA is more vendor neutral and their certs. currently don't retire.

I need to learn more about Linux anyway. And I, for one, stay a lot more motivated to learn if I have a goal to pass an exam.
