Need start-out help!

| I am presently a web developer for a publishing company and will like to spread my expertise. I thought about MCSE, and I also like to get a CIW. Now I am totally new to both disciplines....which route is best for a beginner?

| If your niche is web development, look at the i-Net certification and then move towards the CIW. The i-Net will get your feet wet so-to-speak before moving on to the CIW.
As far as the MCSE goes, it all depends on which direction you want to go as far as a career is concerned. If you want to stay in the area of web development and maybe e-commerce, th ei-Net and CIW are the ticket. If you want to go more into network and system administration, then the MCSE is your answer. | |

Yes my natural drift will be sticking to Web Dev. but I am trying to cover a couple more bases....if you know what I mean. But I definately think going with the I-Net route first will at least get me some solid foundations.
Anyway study material you can recommend?

CIW is a good idea. Also, go to school and get a A.S or A.A on Design (Graphic or Art).
It is very public in many cities, also help u to refresh your mind with x-generation style. Also, many technical schools give their student a proof that they took. Like Cold fusion, Photoshop or QuarkXpress.
Help u on the job and resume if needed.

I just got of school this summer with a BA in Business Admin.. I however took a few programming courses..hence my interest in web development and stuff..

| Check around with your college/university to see if they have any continuing education courses that are in your area of interest. Also check to see if your employer will foot the bill for the classes. Some will if it is directly related to your job.
As far as recommeded books, you can't go wrong with books from Sybex. Check with the i-Net forum for other recommendations. | |
