| rid of the darn thing? I`m talking bout the icon that is is the top right corner that is usually a swirling globe.
I used an AOL cd that had IE 5.1 on it to upgrade from IE 4, I was going to simply do an update at M$ but 20 MB downloaded @ 1.25 Kb/s is a bit long (we live in the stone age here)
Even the top line in my browser says: Microsoft Internet Explorer provided bt America Online....what the heck??
Anybody have any ideas? maybe in the registry? Thanks to anyone who can help! ~ Mike

| It's a reg hack. To restore the animated Internet Explorer logo, delete the BrandBitmap and SmBrandBitmap string values under the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic
rosoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
After you make this change, quit Registry Editor and restart your computer. To restore the Default title for your Internet Explorer use Registry Editor, delete the following value in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic
rosoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title
When you delete this value, "Microsoft Internet Explorer" becomes the default window title. For more information go to: http://support.microsoft.com/suppor..._gn_SRCH&SPR=IE and http://support.microsoft.com/suppor..._gn_SRCH&SPR=IE Hope this helps.

If you're not part of the solution, you're just another part of the problem.

| Thank you! I was pretty sure it was a registry thing, I went in there and looked around and found lots of crap related to Aol, I got rid of most of the references to Aol, then it worked. This was before I read your post.
I wonder if Aol is allowed to do that kind of stuff? as it is a M$ product?
Well thanks for your time! Mike |
