Would somebody please advise me as to which exam to study for as i am interested in working in helpdesk or tech support work.I think that the A+ Comp TIA is the exam i should be taking,am i correct in thinking this?

That would be your best bet. Is a good, all-around cert. Will also be a good foundation if/when you decide to move on and gain other skills and certifications. Let me know if I can give you any other advice. I got mine fairly quickly, and had no previous experience, other than playing around on my computer for years.
