Just reviewed the article about the six up and coming cert programs. I was intrigued at the Helpdesk 2000 cert. Let me get this right..1) You have to take their course to take the exam. 2) The course costs a minimum of $995. 3)The cert is only good for one year, requiring you to shell our $995 again to take the course in 12 months.

At $1000 a year to stay certified to do helpdesk work (entry level pay in the IT field), Support Technologies has Microsoft beat by a mile on turning a buck on certs.

Hi:

That is exactly why I put them near the end of the article.

They were also very reluctant to provide me with any information, and are the only one of the companies who has not e-mailed me back with a thank-you since the article.

All of the other companies were very helpful, and willing to provide me with more information than I really needed, and were quick to respond after the article.

Interestingly enough, the Helpdesk 2000 people are also not aware of what is on their website. I asked them one question in particular where the reaction was:

"Where are you getting your information?"

I told them that I got it right off their homepage.

I'm not trying to say anything bad about Help Desk 2000 - I'm just saying before you invest alot of money into it, remember that it only certifies you for an entry level certification, and that it is expensive to maintain.

And yes, you must take the course to write the exam.
