I plan do some certification but I had problem to decide either MCSE or CCNA.

MCSE need 7 exams, about 6 months, about $1000

CCNA need 1 exam, 2 months, about $300. Addition to CCDA 2 month studying

So in time and market demand MCSE = CCNA + CCDA!!

Time is killing here.

So, shall I pick CCNA or MCSE. Need some support decision here!!!

You might want to email Yeti at Yeti@zerg.com. He replied this same sort of question recently. He is into both and seems to thing the CC stuff is not the way to go.

I don't know, since I'm not into the CC stuff.

Cadman, I think that there might be some confusion. I believe that Happy105 was/is refering to the Cisco certifications (CCNA & CCDA) and not the Novell certifications (CNA & CNE) which Yeti is referring to:-)

My personal advice to you Happy105 is to decide which direction you want to pursue and don't base it on market trends/fads. If you want to do network and system administration go the MCSE route. If you want to do network support, engineering and/or design, then go the Cisco path.

Don't base your certification goals on what is hot now in the IT market because that can change quickly. In and out like yesterday's news.

Good Luck:-)

Your probably right, I claim total ignorance of either one. Sorry...

Bobby Digital I agree with you, but you need to know the trend. IT is a trend, it go quick and end quick. MCSE had 7 exams and take about 6 months. By the time it over, everything change. That's make me worry.

However, MS is popular and good know. That's why it is very hard for me to decide.

More help, please.....

First of all, don't look at a time frame for completing a particular certification. It's better to spend a year actually learning the material that to spend less time studying the material for a test.

Also, like I stated earlier, you have to decide on which direction you want to go. Think about the long term and not the right now.

Happy105,

I know this is tough. MCSE is taking too long.

To answer your question, I suggest to take CCNA then MCSE. Case is closed.

Time fram is important, but something depend on your career goal like Bob said.

IT is on fire and it a trend to get many certification to proof yourself to your supervisor. Keep cool.

Think everything over....!
