Knowledgebase is nothing more than searchable database of articles.

You can use SQL and ASP to easily design it. I mean this sould be easy for an experienced ASP programmer.

Thanks webmaster,

I know something about SQL (MS & Oracle) but nothing what so ever about web servers let alone asp

I know they are only based around queries against data held in one or more Db's. The problem I have is that whilst I know how to install MS IIS I have no clue how to link it to a SQL 7 or any other (yes considering my certs I should...kind missed those options in favor of Project Management...Dhoooo!)

Any way if anyone can give me any pointers apart from going on a course they would be much appreciated.

If you don't know much about webservers, that's fine, but it you don't know much about programming, either in ASP or PERL, you should just hire someone who does that. There is not quick way to learn it fast.

There are some scripts available that are designed to implement some sort of directory, but you still need to know minimal amount of web design, HTML, forms, etc.

If I was asked to implement knowledge base, I would go with a ready to run script like hyperseek. Check them out at hyperseek.com
The program is not cheap - $750.00 and it requires a database installed on your server, either mySQL or Oracle.

It's not fun being expected to know something that you don't. Been there...

For really basic info on how to link a data base to a web server try
