Being paranoid.....

| I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the "survey questions" at the beginning of the MCP exams.
I must admit, I always put in different info on each exam (it annoys me that you don't have the option not to answer them) but some people do seem to think that how you respond to the survey effects the questions you are asked.
As far as I'm concerned, I always understood that the exams where downloaded from Microsoft first thing in the morning, so I doubt very much whether the survey would have any effect on the exam.
Thoughts, anyone?

It is such a survey, never pay attention to it after few MCP exams.
But it is a good way to get yourself relax before the actual exam

| All I know is my own experience.
On my first two Microsoft exams (Net Essentials and Workstation), I answered the questionare as if I had no knowledge of NT, and had been using it for less than one month. I got very high scores on both of those exams.
I tried to do the same thing with my Server exam, and I passed, but not with as high of a score as I did on the other two exams.
When I wrote Server In the Enterprise, I did the questionare corresponding to how long Microsoft would think I should have been using the Operating System based on when I took my first exam. I scored very high on this exam.
I don't know if it is coincidence or not, but it made me wonder. When you book an exam, you give your social security number etc, and you are in Microsoft's database.
Like I said - it might just be coincidence, but who knows!!

| I think you are being paranoid. I for one hate surveys, they are just marketing devices to get information out of us, for their use on us. I use passive-aggressive behavior and have not answered any of them the same. It hasn't helped or hurt my exams outcome. I am sure Freud would have something to say about this behavior. (Probably because I wasn't potty train early enough, or something to that effect). I think any perceptions on your part might just be coincidence, but who knows!! I don't think Microsoft could stand the law suits if we really found out they used the survey to prepare our test questions. We could get a class action suit together, not!
I agree with Kasor, it is a good way to relax yourself before the actual exam starts. And, I believe that is why they are where they are in the exam process.
Aim High!
