Author help, I have two great opps., what should I do?

Here's the deal. I have a job offer with a small but fast growing Networking bus. that focuses on WAN's. They will give me on the job training leading to a CCNA, and then CCNP, ..... This one is real hands on.

The other opp. is as an ASE (Associate Systems Engineer) with Cisco. They have a 5 month training program with great pay. The position after training is "Pre-Sales Engineer." Not as hands on, but pretty damn cool!

The first job, I already have if I want it. The second, with Cisco, I have a nice in for the interview process but nothing is certain. I need a decision for the smaller employer soon. Do I take my chances with the Cisco position or go for the sure thing? The Cisco job will pay way more too. Hmmmmm..... Any thoughts???

Thanks

Go for the sure thing because you never know what could happen. You don't want to walk around kicking yourself in the a$$ if the other does not go through.

Good Luck:-)

I'm with Bobby D.
Take the sure thing because if you don't and Cisco doesn't come through for ya then you'll be kickin' yourself in the a**.
You could take the sure thing and still try to go with Cisco. If it pulls through you could always make the move. On the other hand, if it doesn't come through you don't have anything to worry about because your already employed.
Good luck on whichever one you choose.

so Yoda, how did you find this small Wan networking firm? I just got my CCNA and am trying to find a job. I just went to a Cisco job fair, and was told that Cisco wouldnt want me despite the CCNA due to lack of experience. Got any ideas how a CCNA can find a job? Thanks.

A friend got me the interview. It's all about networking. Make sure everyone you talk to knows what kind of position you're looking for. Find out who they know and what they can do for you. Online job posts and job fairs are a waste. Only 4% of people land jobs that way and almost none of those are entry level. I'm also in the Silicon Valley, so there's more opps. here than anywhere else.

Here's a good site for job hunters. http://www.asktheheadhunter.com/index.htm

Good luck!

Either of those jobs would be great. I'd go for the sure thing though. It sounds like more fun anyway.
