Intro to Solaris
Solaris is the leading UNIX operating system developed by Sun Microsystems
Inc. It is the established OS leader for availability, scalability, and security
in the internet age. Solaris software delivers rock-solid stability and
predictability for business-critical applications.
Sun was incorporated in February 1982, with four employees. By now, as a
$12.4 billion company with offices in 170 countries, Sun provides solid
end-to-end solutions for doing business in the network age. As a star of server
market, Sun is holding a big market share last year.
Sun Solaris Certification Comes in Different Packages:
1. Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA)
SCSA demonstrated mid-level knowledge and skills ranging from basic system
administration to advanced topics and add-on software packages that are used to
enhance operating system capabilities. This test is designed for Solaris system
administrator with three or more year experience.
2. Sun Certified Network Administrator (SCNA)
Becoming a Sun Certified Network Administrator means you've demonstrated a
superior level of expertise and the ability to implement more complex local area
networks in a client-server environment, including TCP/IP and associated
protocols.

The cost of each Sun certification exam is $150.00. You need to purchase an exam
voucher first from Sun Education Service by calling 1-800-872-4786 or going to here
Retired Exams:
Once you are certified at a certain level for a certain version, you are always
certified for that level and version.
Benefits of Sun certification:
SCSA/SCNA are receiving high technical recognition as operating system
professional. The average salary for SCSA is $55,000 - $70,000. You will be able
to view your results in the this

Where to take the Sun certification exams:
- Purchase an examination voucher from your local Sun Educational Services
office. To find your local SES office, go to this
site
- Once you have gotten your voucher number, you can call 1-800-481-EXAM to
schedule the date, time and location you wish to take the exam. Candidates
in the USA, Canada, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy,
Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK may go to this
site to redeem certification vouchers and register for exams.
- Go to the test center and take your examination. At the end of the
examination, you will receive your pass/fail grade, score, and feedback on
your performance by categories or objectives. Once you have completed your
examination, your exam information will be loaded to the Sun Educational
Services Certification Database within 3-5 working days. You may view your
information after that time.
Note:
Beginning in June 2000, Sun implemented a new registration and eligibility
policy. Customers will need to wait a two-week period before taking the same
exam again.
